Ensemble music

Chœur En’Chanté 

Age : 6 to 16 years old

Direction : Marie-Hélène Piotet

Presentation: in a decade, the choir, composed of 40 children, has become one of the headlight groups of the Conservatoire and has distinguished themselves by their participation in numerous events.

The participants will experience enjoyment, relaxation and a feeling of well being, through singing practice, learning to steady one’s voice, to breathe, to listen, to become conscious of one’s body and to express oneself.

They will be able to regularly participate in concerts and  regional events.

Orchestre à vent l'eVcov

Direction: Andrea Baggi and Nicolas Logoz

Presentation: this ensemble, adjustable to circumstances, was founded in 2014. It allows students of the wind and harp department to play together. It takes part in regional events and prepares a regular annual program. A varied repertoire is adapted to the orchestra.

Ensemble T’il

Direction : Nicolas Logoz

Presentation: the Ensemble T’il is a saxophone ensemble, constituted every year, which has taken part in many events linked to the COV since its creation.

Admission conditions: on invitation (plus being registered in the classical saxophone class at the COV).

Jazz and pop music workshop

Direction : Daniele Verdesca

Presentation: Jazz workshops are proposed, to give pupils a chance to discover the pleasure of playing together, an essential training component, for a student enrolled in jazz and pop music classes.

Instruments involved in the workshops: drums, bass, guitar, piano, brass and voice.

Or wind instruments accompanied by the rhythm section as a possible alternative.

Aim: learning to play in a group, in all styles of modern music: Blues, Jazz, Rock, Variety, Latin music and Improvisation.

Number of pupils per workshop: 4 à 7

Elmentary - Requirements :

  • To be registered in the above level
  • To be at least 8 years old
  • To be able to play simple pieces with melodies written in eighth notes and triplets (for solo instrumentalists)
  • To know major, minor, and seventh chords (for guitar, piano and bass players)
  • To be able to keep a simple binary rhythm (for drummers)

Medium - Requirements

  • To be registered in the above level
  • To be at least 10 years old
  • To be able to play melodies written in sixteenth notes and syncopated rhythms (for solo instrumentalists)
  • To know major, minor, seventh and diminished chords (for guitar, piano and bass players)
  • To be able to keep a simple binary or ternary rhythm (for drummers)

Secondary - Requirements :

  • To be regis in the above level
  • To be at least 13 years old
  • To be able to play melodies written in sixteenth notes and syncopated rhythm with a steady tempo (for solo instrumentalists)
  • To know major, minor, seventh, diminished, augmented and suspended chords (for guitar, piano and bass players)
  • To know miscellaneous rhythms in different styles (blues, jazz, rock, bossa nova) and
  •  be able to retain and play breaks (for drummers)

Secondary superior - Requirements :

  • To be registered at least in the second year of the above level
  • To be at least 16 years old
  • To be able to play jazz standards and other pieces belonging to the modern repertoire (for solo instrumentalists)
  • To know all categories of chords  (for guitar, piano and bass players)
  • To be able to accompany, to improvise and to support a group in various styles of pop music (for drummers)


Object: To be able to perform in public auditions, concerts and to accompany social events

String ensembles

The COV proposes two small string orchestras for beginners (preparatory and elementary) belonging to violin and cello classes, to make children familiar with the practice of ensemble music as soon as possible.
